When my grandmother passed away in 2009, her and my grandfathers’ austrian farmhouse remained empty for a couple of months. Well, actually not empty but inhabited by their things, their narrative. So my grieving 18-year-old self decided to visit with my mother and my camera. I wanted to make a movie about my mother telling stories from her childhood, but when we entered the house, the remains of my grandparent’s life started telling their own stories. I recorded that. Not mine or my families but their lives’ traces. When people leave, their private objects develop a mystic space much like a vacuum. I am seeking for meaningful places to rebuild my grandparents’ house through video installation. I want to put their story in a Good Place.
